Our Testimonials - THE RECOVERY SOCK®

Arturo Barrios
Former Olympian and World Record Holder in the 10,000 meters run

Arturo Barrios Flores (born December 12, 1962) is a Mexican long-distance runner. He was born in Ciudad de Mexico, Distrito Federal. Barrios finished in fifth place in the 10,000 metres at the 1988 Summer Olympics. He is a former world record holder at 10,000 m (27:08.23, set on August 18, 1989). Barrios' record was not broken until 1993 when Richard Chelimo ran 27:07.91 in Stockholm. On March 30, 1991, Barrios set world records at one hour (21,101 km) and 20,000 m (56:55.6).
These records stood until June 2007, when they were broken by Haile Gebrselassie. Barrios' 1991 performance makes him the first man ever to run a half-marathon distance in less than one hour; the first to do so in an actual half-marathon competition was Moses Tanui in 1993. In 1992 he participated in the 6th IAAF World Cup in Athletics, running the 5,000 m with a time of 13:50.95, finishing in second place. Barrios became a United States citizen in September 1994. Barrios graduated from Texas A&M University in 1985 where he competed in track and cross country.

Arturo says: "As a 5-time world record holder in distances including the 10k, 20k, and one hour run, I put years of tough training on my legs, up to a hundred miles a week for most weeks of the year. After running at that kind of intensity and racing at an Olympic level, my legs know a thing or two about the importance of recovery. Now that I'm retired, I can't run like I used to, but I still get out every day for an hour of running. After trying The Recovery Sock®s, I could tell right away that they made a difference. My calves, which are normally tight, don't feel beat up after a run. They feel fresh and ready to go the next day. I only wish they'd been around when I was racing!
I recommend The Recovery Sock®s now to the athletes I work with, for both training and racing. No matter what level you're training at, I believe they will help your legs feel up to the challenge".

Mauro Ciarrocchi
Ironman - Italian Champion
(in his category)

I started triathlon in 1994 with a race on average distance (2500m swim, 80km bike and 20km run). My disposition toward endurance immediately took me to face a long-distance race to see if this could be my future passion ... and so it was! I used to play soccer and basketball, but I liked triathlon from the beginning and since 2000 I dedicate myself to the king race of the sport, the race that saw the birth of the triathlon back in 1978 in Hawaii, the IRONMAN! It is 3800m swim, 180 km cycling and 42.195 km. In 2000 I've done the Ironman in Roth and finished in 10h55 ' at the end of the race I said to myself that never again would I go through an effort like this... but for years to come, I repeated this experience for 16 times around  Europe, Malaysia and for 4 times the world final that is held every year in Hawaii. Over the years, the constancy of training has led me to win the Italian title on the Olympic distance in 2008 and to be the Italian champion for the  Ironman distance in 2008 and 2009. The triathlon was not enough and so in 2004 I participated in the tough race 100 km of Passatore, walking race from Florence to Faenza ending in 8:34'. In 2006 I attended the Ultramarathon of Boavista, 150km race in the desert with self-sufficiency in food , finishing 6th overall in 24h45'. In 2006 in Spain I won an unusual Ironman distance with the bike fraction with the mountain bike. The town of Brescia rewarded me for this accomplishment with the Winged Victory, while in 2008 for the Italian titles and for the world races  I have received the prestigious Silver Grosso from the Brescia's Mayor.

In 2009 I tried The Recovery Sock®: I found this product excellent in the race but especially in muscle recovery after long workouts. The compression sock has become an indispensable product for me. I happen to use it even after injuries such as muscle contractures and the confidence that give you in getting back in training  is invaluable. In addition to preventing cramps greatly reduce fatigue..

Dave Walters

I am Dave Walters and have run over 110,000 miles during the past 38 years. I started wearing Recovery Sock®s a year and a half ago and they have made a remarkable difference in my running and recovery. As you can imagine - that many miles has put a strain on my lower legs and I am always looking for ways to reduce that. The cushioning in The Recovery Sock® running sock is excellent and the Recovery Sock compression sock has helped dramatically in post run recovery. In fact I have started to train and race in The Recovery Sock® compression socks as well. I finished the 2008 New York City Marathon in 2 hours 43 minutes while wearing the Recovery Sock® compression sock. I felt strong throughout the race and especially over the last 6 miles. I was closer to my main age group competition than I had previously been. My lower leg recovery has been phenomenal. Normally my calves are very stiff after a marathon - not this time! Anyone wanting to boost their performance or speed their workout recovery should be using them.

Jennifer Harrison

My name is Jennifer Harrison and I have been racing Triathlons for 15 years. I am also a full time Triathlon and Running Coach. I have done over 125 Triathlons including the Hawaii Ironman twice. I race everything from Sprint Triathlons and 5ks to Ironmans and Marathons. I started using Recovery Socks® in 2008 and they have been a staple in my training and recovery ever since. I am a believer! They are extremely effective. The effects have been amazing - not only do I gain more strength and power at the end of my run workouts but my overall workout is faster. Post workout/race recovery has been enhanced by wearing them immediately afterwards. Post workout lower leg soreness has been virtually elliminated by wearing the Recovery Socks®. I also travel all over the US for racing and coaching camps, always wearing the Travel Sox when I fly. I arrive more fresh and ready to go with those socks I have been a huge promoter of Recovery Socks® with all my athletes and they are starting to see the results as well. I cannot wait to see how they continue to help us in training and recovery!

Dr. Mark Turner

My name is Dr. Mark Turner, I am a chiropractor that provides sports and surgical rehabilitation services in a large multidisciplinary clinic located in Chicago,Illinois. My experience as a professional football player primed me for a special interest in sports injuries and performance. Recovery Socks have become a part of my patients' treatment plan for sports injuries and performance.

I was introduced to The Recovery Sock® by a world-class marathoner as a tool to potentially decrease leg fatigue and calf pain at night, as I am on my feet all day treating patients. I noticed immediately upon wearing the Recovery Socks that my leg fatigue and calf pain markedly reduced. Currently, all members of my staff wear The Recovery Sock®s daily with big smiles on their faces.

The Recovery Sock® compression socks are recommended to our patients with lower leg edema or injury, including inversion ankle sprains, Achilles injuries, post surgical swelling, and foot disorders when appropriate. The Recovery Socks® have shown to be to be effective in managing poor lower extremity blood return, systematically related or functionally related to daily inactivity (flying, driving, sitting, standing etc.).

In regards to sports performance, our athletes state that the use of The Recovery Sock® during and after rigorous activity significantly decreases recovery time and allows for higher volume of activity. We did a trial with athletes wearing one Recovery Sock® and one regular athletic sock and all athletes chose to use a pair of Recovery Sock®s after they made their own personal assessment.

There are other athletic socks on the market, many of which we did try, but the specific tension locations and weight of the Recovery Sock® made the most sense to our athletes, patients, and us.

Mark Wladecki

Hello, My name is Mark Wladecki, M.D. In September 2004 I raced in my last Duathlon, the epic Powerman World Championships in Zofingen Switzerland. The greatest race of all time! A 10 k run - 150 k bike - and 30 k run. The past five years have been dedicated to my daughter, and her soccer(futbol) training. She will be going off to University in the fall, and I am looking for new adventures.

I know how much long, hard training results in nagging aches and pains. I was lucky enough to find a product called the recovery sock. I have used compression shorts before, but not socks. Approximately 3 weeks ago , I did a 'brick' workout which lasted almost 4 hours. Afterwards I put on the socks and the next day I was not sore!!! No sore achilles, soleus, nothing!!!! Well...One time does not a product make!

On Saturday Feb. 21 I woke and decided to see what I could do. 15 degrees Fahrenheit and snow. So I ran 1 hour 15 minutes, rode the bike trainer 1 1/2 hours, then put on The Recovery Sock®s and finished with another 45 minutes of running and another 1 1/2 hour bike. - 5 total hours. I put the recovery socks back on after a shower, along with the base layer compression shorts. Later that day I went out and danced with my wife and the next morning - I was not sore!!!!!

I will continue to use this product! At almost 51 years age - maybe the 'comeback' to racing won't be so hard!!!     I thank you for this product!

July 2010: I started racing again just this year. 4 short diatance duathlons. Overall finishes a 2nd,3rd, and two 4th place finishes- OVERALL. Thanks Recovery socks- next year Long Distance!!!!

Mark J. Wladecki, M.D.
